Edit: I already had this app at 1 star, but if I could make it 0 I would! I took French in high school and college, aced it, and just wanted to review- I can barely get past the verbs section due to the awful pronunciation and sound quality on this app! The rest of the "parts of speech" section is filled with bad translations and ambiguous answers, forcing you to guess until you run out of hearts- they're hoping you'll get frustrated and pay for unlimited hearts!

The older version was pretty straightforward and it had features that allowed you to choose the lesson you wished to learn, learn it a thousand times without giving you unprompted directions, without those lifespan hearts (the kinds you find in children's games) and without limitations. It was the best app out there because it was simple and instructive. I don't exactly recall any ads either. It remains free but you have to pay 200 a week to get rid of those hearts. Not nice!

So far, totally free. I just gave it a quick road test. So far, not too many ads. I get to go as fast as I want to go. I can back up easily. I like that it is a best combination of grammar and listening and sentence structure. So tired of how slow Duolingo was and I'm not a child so I don't need all the childish vocabulary. I need to understand the structure of a language on Duolingo just makes you wing it. I need some grammar.
